What are managed services?
Managed services let small and medium-sized businesses with limited IT budgets hand over responsibility for their systems and server environment - to maintain continuity of service, improve operations and cut costs.
For your FileMaker server environment, that may include, but is not limited to:
- Monitoring the FileMaker Server - Database Server, Web Server, Web Publishing Engine and ODBC/JDBC connections, verifying and validating that all services are up and running.
- Monitoring and tracking server performance - including Linux operating system and FileMaker Server statistics (CPU usage, memory usage, network throughput, disk throughput).
- Monitoring the FileMaker Server logs - warnings, errors, info and more - and responding accordingly.
- Checking and installing FileMaker updates - version software updates, upgrades and security patches, from time to time.
- Database optimisation - file compression and compacted copies (removing free space, reducing file size, improving access speeds and streamlining data access).
- Administration of FileMaker licences - licence keys and licence types.
- Configuration management - both administrative and technical.
- Server configuration and connectors - for WebDirect, ODBC/JDBC, server-side plug-ins and the FileMaker Data API where applicable.
- Capacity planning - and monitoring of server hard-drive space.
- Server reboots - from time to time.
- Server backups and backup scheduling - with verification and validation of all backup schedules.
- Continuity checks - including maintaining source code and software version control.
All of it adds up to one thing: providing you with peace of mind.
